Along the Danube on Dec. 26: Light and Shadow
It was a sunny day as I walked along the Danube in Ulm, Germany. I am constantly searching for interesting light and shadow, which I found under this bridge that connects Ulm to Neu Ulm.

Making a photograph,
qaunity,
quality
Quanity or Quality? Making a photograph
A few thoughts on making a photograph.
Making Photographs | www.capturingexposures.com
Making Photographs | www.capturingexposures.com
Digital
cameras allow us to take more photographs in a shorter space of time
and to publish them within seconds. It's literally a snap!
Less
is more. You won't really become a better photographer by simply
snapping off a lot of random shots. And simply snapping away doesn't
mean that you can replace quality with quantity, does it.
Making
a photograph takes intent, knowledge, focus and, yes, hard work. Anyone
who attempts to claim otherwise is being either naïve or ignorant. So,
get out there and practice with intent and focus. Learn to look, see and
think. Bring it all back to the darkroom and make that photograph you
have in your mind’s eye.

Enter Winter: Fog, Frost and Grays
We have left fall and have entered the beginning of winter here in the area of Ulm, Germany. The mix of fog, frost and different tones of gray converging on farmers' empty fields are intriguing.

Warsaw Architecture from the Inside Out - Part 3
A HUGE mall called ZÅ‚ote Tarasy (Golden Terraces) was directly across the street from our hotel. I was taken by the massive geometric design of the roof's architecture. So, with camera in hand I ventured inside.

A little Warsaw on a cold Nov. weekend - Part 1
We were in Warsaw, Poland last weekend for a wedding. It was cold. Brrr. I'm still chilled!
We stayed at a nice hotel smack in the middle of the city within a stone's throw of the Palace of Culture and Science.

How to Improve Your Photography - 5 EASY Ways
Someone asked me a few days ago how they could improve their photography. I told this person it's a piece of cake.
The tricks are:
1. Shoot every day or as often as you can.
2. Read about photography from its history to how-to articles.
3. Look at other photographers' work.
4. Repeat!
5. Repeat again!

These two photographs were taken on a Friday in Oct. at approx. the same time one week apart. These Danube river boats called Ulmer Schachtel are tied up near the dam.

The Damn
A few kilometers from my place sits a dam. It's a small dam but a dam nonetheless. All the years I have lived here I never once ventured across the dam. That all changed this past Sunday morning, a cloudy fall morning that was both warm and cold.
I was chasing light and shadow.
