Voici ce qui fut, sans doute depuis toujours, la vocation essentielle de l’art : mettre en scène--on pourrait dire encore : « exposer », « incarner »-- dans un matériau sensible (couleur, son, pierre…) une vérité tenue pour supérieure. C’est là sa finalité la plus essentielle, qui est probablement aussi ancienne que l’humanité elle-même.
